 Here are several steps to keep the faith.

Get rid of friendly enemies

When you’re trying to improve your health, it’s important to get rid of anything that might divert you from your goals. That means getting rid of unhealthy foods from your home, getting rid of tempting TV shows or magazines, and spending less time with people who don’t support your healthy lifestyle.

Identify a big goal and its related small tasks

If you’re feeling stuck, it can help to identify small tasks that align with your big goals. Sometimes, all it takes is a little wave of motivation to get you back on track. So, rather than trying to lose 100 pounds, aim to do a few small tasks that will help you lose a few pounds, and watch that momentum pick you up.

For example: 

  • Exercise 10 minutes a day until that's easy, then increase that time
  • Eat your last meal 4 hours before you go to sleep
  • Swap your high-calorie dinner for a nutrient-dense smoothie or salad.

Small tasks feel more achievable than big goals because they help you stay motivated. But if they're aligned with your big goals they'll also help you achieve them too!

Find a community

There are other people out there who are on a similar journey. Connect with a group of friends or an online community who can support and encourage you. It’s helpful to have people to talk to who understand what you’re going through.

I’m Dr. Kennisha Reynolds, NMD!
